Press Release 08/11/2022 Lord Kalyana Venkateshwara Balaji Pranaprathistha Mahotsav conducted at Sai Chavadi Temple in Canton, MA Shri Sai Chavadi in Canton Ma performed the auspicious event of Shri Balaji Murti Pranaprathistha in the temple on Aug 5th to Aug 7th. The other vigrahas along with Lord Balaji included Jaya and Vijaya, the two dvarapalakas (gatekeepers) of the abode of Vishnu and Garuda the vehicle or vahana of Lord Balaji. A very rare event of its kind in the New England area, this event was performed with significant rituals, the Jaladhivasam (water) ritual performed on July 4th, Dhanyadhivasam (grain) ritual on July 15th, Pushadhivasam (flower) ritual on Aug 6th and Shayaadhivasam (bed) ritual on Aug 6th. The Jaladhivasam (water) ritual is performed to emphasize centrality of water in the Vedas. During Jaladhivasam, lord Balaji was immersed in water in a reclining position. Water is the essence of life, the mantras chanted during this ritual is that all entities including vital air, animals and food are a form of water. Water shines brilliantly by itself and cannot be ruled over by any other entity. Truth is also considered as a form of water. Devotees offered water to Swamy while chanting Shri Vishnu Sahasranama. During Dhanyadhivasam the vigrahas are immersed in completely in Dhanyam (grains). The lord is saluted through this ritual as “Vishwa-Bhuk†the protector of the universe. This is also done as food is a form of nectar and is offered to the lord as a form of complete surrender to HIM. Pushpadhivasam is done to induce softness to Moola Vigrahas by immersing them in flowers. In Shayadhivasam the vigrahas are rested in nidra position and is done prior to erecting the statue vertically. All of the rituals began with MahaSankalp, Ganesha Puja followed by Kalasha Pooja. An elaborate Shri Sukta Homam was performed followed by Shri Mahalakshmi pooja. Devotees offered water to Swamy while chanting Shri Vishnu Sahasranama. All the significant milestones in the Balaji Murti Prana Pratistha Mahotsav were performed with the help of months of careful planning and preparation by dedicated volunteers of Shri Sai Chavadi, Canton continuing with their tradition of commitment to the Lord and society.
