Krishna Thrishna Krishna Thrishna (Craving Krishna) A Dance Theater by Jothi Raghavan Charanagathi – unconditional surrender of the individual soul (Atman) to the Supreme (Paarabrahman- Paramatman) is the underlying theme of this dance theater presentation. Krishna Thrishna- Craving Krishna Nammazhwar is the personification of Krishna Thrishna - Thirst for Krishna the supreme. The dance theater strives to portray this insatiable thirst of Nammazhwar and his ultimate surrender to his lord. Nammazhwar has sung over 1000 verses expressing the glory of the lord and his longing to be with him. These verses are comparable only to that of the verses of the Vedas, Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita. He also takes on the persona of Parangusa Nayaki – a lovelorn maiden longing for a reunion with her lover. Who else can express the pangs of separation better than a lovelorn maiden? The verses are highly philosophical. This presentation with all its limitations strives to bring to life the craving of this mystic in its myriad forms while sharing the philosophy that is the life and breath of these verses. This work was inspired and guided by lectures of Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy of Chennai and Sri Veeraraghavan Swamy of Mysore Vishwakshema Gurukulam Mysore Jothi Raghavan accompanied by G.
