Tahaan by Santosh Sivan (2008, 105 min.). After his grandfather dies, Tahaan's beloved pet donkey is seized, along with his family's assets. During the treacherous journey to find his beloved pet, the young boy's courage is tested as he is naively pulled into a terrorist plot to sneak a grenade across a military checkpoint. Set against the soulful backdrop of Kashmir Valley, director Santosh Sivan (The Terrorist) explores issues of terrorism with an open mind, while focusing on an innocent boy's devotion to his beloved pet. In Hindi, with English subtitles.

After he is passed over for the promotion, he abruptly quits and plans to study under a legendary chef in France. But when his estranged father has a heart attack, Samir's life takes an unexpected turn. He moves back to Queens and takes over the family's failing Indian restaurant, Tandoori Palace. Luckily, he crosses paths with Akbar, a taxi driver and former chef in Mumbai, who inspires Samir to embrace life and save Tandoori Palace along the way.
