Bharatha Natyam Workshop, Summer 2002
The Connecticut Valley Hindu Temple Society is sponsoring a dance-theater production, 'Gajamukham - The Story of Ganesha the Auspicious', which will be staged on Sept 7th 2002. This dance workshop is related to that production. Participants will learn Bharatha Natyam dance items as well as choreography for rhythmic components of the dance-drama. They will also learn yoga postures and movements derived from yoga, Kathakali and Kalari (martial artform).The workshop will also include an abhinaya section, where the participants will be taught acting techniques. Besides dance they will be taught some Vedic chants and a few chollukattu to be delivered on stage.
