Documentary Film: 6-A Akash Ganga
The documentary film, 6-A Akash Ganga, about the legendary Indian musician Annapurna Devi, will be showing at the Coolidge Corner Theater on November 2, 2025 at 2pm. The filmmaker, Nirmal Chander, will be present for a Q&A session after the film.
A brief description of Annapurna Devi is below.
For fans of Indian classical music, Annapurna Devi was known as the guru of the gurus, and wife of her estranged husband, sitar maestro, Ravi Shankar. She has taught many of India's foremost classical musicians, and yet her own life has been shrouded in mystery.
This is a rare opportunity to hear from the reclusive Annapurna Devi as the film traces her untold story. Only a few showings are being offered this Fall across the US, and we are so lucky to have this showing at the Coolidge.
