In the Beginning IS Desire / TBP According to Rig-Veda, one of the oldest poetic thoughts in the history of the sub-continent, the root of all divine creative activity is the spark of desire that expands the universe from a primordial unity into flowering multiplicity. Dr. Neela Bhattacharya Saxena explores this theme and the place of the great Goddess Kali in the spiritual and cultural heritage of India in her book titled: In the Beginning IS Desire: Tracing Kali’s Footprints in Indian Literature At the source of all human activity too is desire; TBP (a non-profit organization) has originated in the desire of people from multiple disciplines united together to make a difference at the grass root level in their native lands to spread the goods of our creativity. One such effort, Kalighat Redevelopment Project has initiated a community effort to improve the ecology and environment of this Ancient Heritage site in Kolkata, India. This event will include a talk by the author, followed by an exciting narrative of the Kalighat project and other TBP initiatives. Refreshments will be served. Suggested tax-deductible donation of $50 per person and $65 per family will include a copy of the book & will benefit the Kalighat project.
