Multicultural Arts Expo 2004 While the Democratic Convention heats up on one end of town, the Vizions Arts Expo will be sizzling on the other with a wide range of craftspeople and talented performers. The expo is in its fourth year, and growing strong. This year, it will take over the air-conditioned Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, a comfortable destination for families of all ages. Arrive early to comb all of the crafts tables for something new and nice. You’ll want first pick from such tables as Butu’s African Art or Joyce & Akintunde’s Nigerian wares, Native American/African American Crafts, Ethnic Expressions, and more. You’ll be able to pick all sorts of wonderful clothing, jewelry, and ornamental items for your home. As the crowds fill the center, Boston’s rising stars shine, including singer Tori; rap artist, Shadow; and singer/songwriter Nevada Rose, who recently received the Woman of Color Image Award for Best New Artist of the year. Hear her single, ‘Let’s Work It Out.’ Don’t miss the Nia Dance Troupe of OrigiNation, a group of some of Boston’s most talented young people ages 14 to 21, who perform hip-hop, ballet, jazz, African, tap, and more. There will also be a chance watch tango dancers and Latin dancers, and martial artists performing Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan, a classical Korean martial art. This is just a mere sampling of this year’s surprises. --Linda Frahm Arts & Culture Kid-friendly Group-friendly Date: 07/24/2004 Location: The Reggie Lewis Track Center Time: 10:30a to 4:00p Organized By: Khoncepts-Digital Videography Cost: Free admission Food: Dunkin Donuts will be open Contact: Celeste Sheffey 617-610-9912 Web: http://www.khoncepts.com/Art_Expo_2004.htm Email: khoncepts@yahoo.com Directions: Take the Orange line to Roxbury Crossing-take escalator to street level- located across the street Take any bus from Dudley going to Ruggles Station- ask for the Reggie Lewis Track Center stop Driving from downtown Boston- take Tremont Street- all the way towards Forest Hills, drive past Ruggles Station (on the right) past the Police Station (on the right) take left at the intersection of Tremont Street and Malcolm X Blvd- Track Center is on that building on the left Discuss about the event, share ride ... | | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
