Abhijit's sound of the keyboard is a mixture of Santoor and Piano. Abhijit received his early training in music from his grandmother, Dr.Smt.Susheela Pohankar and his father Pt.Ajay Pohankar. He is gaining guidance in the layakari and rhythm patterns from Pt.Suresh Talwalkar the great layakari maestro. Currently, Abhijit is being groomed by the great Santoor maestro Pt. Shivkumar Sharma. He plays in the same way as the Santoor is played, the Aalap, Jod, Jhala & followed by the Gat where the Tabla comes into the picture and the beautiful extempore patterns emerge out of both the Tabla and the Keyboard.
