Anurag Harsh / Vocal Concert and Lecture VOCAL CONCERT AND LECTURE BY: Anurag Harsh TABLA NISHIKANT SONWALKAR HARMONIUM PREETI CHAKRAVARTY About the Artists The music of Anurag Harsh (vocal) reverberates with the radiance of his mentors Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and Pandit Chandrakant Apte. He has won the Sangeet Research Academy’s highest national honor, the All India Golden Greats music contest, and given live concerts throughout the world. An architect of the Kirana Gharana, Anurag’s musical repertoire comprises rare hindustani ragas and rhythm, including khayal, trivat, chaturang, tarana, thurmri and bhajan sung in three octaves A Computer Scientist by schooling, he has a Sangeet Alankar (MA in Music) from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, works in corporate strategy, and is about to graduate from the Wharton School of Business. Nishikant Sonwalkar (on Tabla) received his Bachelor’s degree in music under the supervision of the renowned Pandit Kiran Deshpande and Pandit Sharad Khargaonkar of Indore. He has performed on All India Radio and Doordarshan TV. He has accompanied distinguished musicians like Pandit Firoz Dastoor, Ustad Gulam Mustafa, and Pandit Buddhadeva Dasgupta, among others. He has also performed and recorded with Jazz-Fusion groups in the Boston area. At present Dr. Sonwalkar serves as the Principal Educational Architect at MIT and he is a founding member of the LearnQuest Academy of Music where he also teaches Tabla. Preeti Chakravarty (on harmonium) received her initial training in vocal music in Bhagalpur, Bihar and advanced training from Pandit Vinayakrao Patwardhan, a well-known exponent of the Gwalior Gharana. Mrs. Chakravarty has extensive experience in teaching music and curriculum development. She served as the head of the department of music in a four year college in Bihar and as the chairperson of the curriculum committee for a model music university. She was also a member of the board of examiners in various universities in the state of Bihar, India. A renowned vocal performer, she also teaches at LearnQuest.
