Indo-US Relations in Culture and Politics
Honorable Pramathesh Rath
Consul General of India at New York!

Indo-US relations have seen radical improvement in the past decade. The end of the Cold War, India's economic liberalisation, the growing profile of the Indo-American community along with the war against terrorism account for such change. With the American people gaining better familiarity with India and Indians, there is greater interest in Indian art and culture. Indian writers, painters and movie makers are increasingly using Western idioms in Indian themes to be better understood and appreciated. The teaching of Indian studies too is undergoing change. More diligent academic activity is required to remove ignorance of Indian social life and change the perception of stereotype.
