Amma in Marlborough, MA
World-renowned humanitarian and spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) returns to New England June 28 & 29 offering her unique motherly embrace to all. Amma has hugged over 36 million people worldwide. Many express feeling unconditional love and total acceptance when hugged by Amma for the first time. In North America, ETW volunteers prepare and serve 72,000 meals in 38 cities, annually. Volunteers across New England, prepared and delivered 790 meals to local shelters, and collected and donated 11,000 loaves of bread and 530 pairs of socks to homeless shelters and 1,200 lbs. of non-perishable items to area food pantries, in 2017. Amma says, “In today’s world, people experience two types of poverty: the poverty caused by lack of food, clothing and shelter, and the poverty caused by lack of love and compassion. Of these two, the second type needs to be considered first because if we have love and compassion in our hearts, then we will wholeheartedly serve those who suffer from lack of food, clothing and shelter.” Location: Best Western Royal Trade Center, 181 Boston Post Rd. Directions: Public Transportation from Boston to the program site Amtrak or Interstate Bus passengers arriving in Boston From South Station in Boston, take the MBTA Framingham / Worcester Commuter Rail and get off at the Southborough Commuter Rail stop. This is in the town of Southborough / Southboro, Massachusetts. The Southborough stop has no station building, rest rooms, public telephone, or MBTA employees. From Southborough stop to the program site Trade Center at the Best Western Royal Plaza, Marlborough, MA At the Southborough Commuter Rail stop in Southborough, Massachusetts you can either call a taxi/Uber/Lyft to complete your trip or you may be able to take the Amma shuttle. Uber and LYFT provide some service at this commuter train stop. NOTE the designation “87 Southville Road, Southboro, MA” is understood by both Lyft and Uber as the address of the MBTA commuter train stop in Southboro, MA. If you try to tell them that you are at “MBTA” or something similar, they will not find the address at which the train stops, and you will not be able to get an Uber, or Lyft, ride. Something about their address database causes this. This problem was still active on May 11.
