Pandit Ram Deshpande is an artist of commendable talent of the present generation. A senior disciple of stalwarts such as Pt. Yashwantbua Joshi, Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar and Pt Babanrao Haldankar he has risen to great heights as a vocalist with training in GWALIOR, JAIPUR and AGRA GHARANA traditions. Pandit Ram Deshpande is gifted with a rich voice with ornamentation like gamak, behelao, meend and great command over taal and large variety of tans. He has a large repertoire of popular and rare raags. Recipient of numerous awards, Ram has a doctorate in music. The Sangeet Research Academy Kolkata honored him with the prestigious “Best Vocalist Award†in 1991. He has performed all over the world and in all major conferences like SAWAI GANDHARVA SANGEET MAHOTSAV, TANSEN SANGEET SAMAROH, BHARAT BHAVAN,N.C.P.A, ITC Sangeet Sammelan.
