Telangana, the newest Indian state created in 2014, represents a long and glorious tradition of grassroots people's movements. Yet caste discrimination continues to affect social life in Telangana, as demonstrated recently by the suicide of Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula in Hyderabad, capital of Telangana.
