War on Terrorism or Assault on Human Rights? War on Terrorism or Assault on Human Rights? Civil Liberties, Homeland Security, and Democracy in the Post 9/11 World A Panel discussion that engages in depth with the U. S. A. Patriot Act and other anti-terrorism legislation and practices and their pernicious effect on civil liberties and human rights. Among the featured participants are: Nancy Chang, the senior litigation attorney for the Center for Constitutional Rights, Professor David Cole, the legal affairs correspondent for The Nation, Michael Avery, President of the National Lawyer Guild, Harvard Law instructor Soffiyah Jill Elijah, Merrie Najimy, President of the Arab-American Anti-discrimination, Nancy Murray, Director of the Bill of Rights Educational Project, Political Research Associates analyst Chip Berlet, Matthew Rothschild, editor of The Progressive, and Joshua Anygeorge, a poet from Sierra Leone.
