This is a 90-minute story-telling style version created by the celebrated French playwright Jean-Claude Carrière (who will be receiving an honorary Oscar in November). Jean-Claude Carrière was the playwright for the Peter Brook's directed mammoth play the toured world-wide in 1985-1991. Jean-Claude Carrière has also had a stellar film career in French and English films, including an Oscar among other honors. He is considered a national treasure in France. He has spent the last many years performing the Mahabharata to French audiences and had a very successful US tour in 2013.
The producers are Enacte Arts, a 501c(3) South Asian-centric theater arts organization headquartered in Houston and San Francisco, along with Boston's premier theater producer Arts Emerson.
