Value Systems for a Virtuous Life

Lord Karthikeya or Subramanya, the God of the Tamils and the originator of the Tamil language is enshrined in a large number of temples all over the world most of which are located in Tamilnadu, mainly on hilltops. Of these six are outstanding because they are associated with some six episodes of Lord Muruga, which emphasize several values systems for the betterment of humanity. This discourse will present the episodes and delve deeply into the associated value systems.
Prof. R. Subrahmonia Ayyar (Retd) is a great scholar. He was the Dean of Academic Programs at the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, India (IIT Bombay). He has also served as a visiting faculty at MIT and Tufts University. In addition to having an illustrious career as a professor and researcher in the field of Civil Engineering, he is an erudite scholar who has extensively studied Hindu Scriptures and Tamil Literature. He has given several discourses on the subject.
It is a privilege and honor to have him speak amongst us at our Temple.
