Press Release 05/20/2014
Amita Gupta, MIT 2015, majoring in Chemical Engineering, awarded the 2014 Amgen UROP Scholarship
The 2014 MIT cohort selected for this summer is comprised of 25 students – 10 MIT undergraduates and 15 visiting undergraduates – who will do research with MIT faculty members in fields such as neuroscience, cancer biology, and tissue engineering. This year’s group of scholars will come to MIT from schools around the country, including the University of Minnesota, Oklahoma State University, UC Irvine, and Brigham Young University. They have wide-ranging interests and participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, such as collegiate sports, community service, and marching band, just to name a few. In addition to lab research, scholars will attend workshops, seminars, and faculty presentations. In July, the scholars will attend the national Amgen Scholars Symposium in Los Angeles, which brings together scholars from the 10 US host institutions for a two-day research symposium.
