Ekal Vidyalaya And ATFS Learning Center Host Math Bee

Ekal Vidyalaya and ATFS Learning Center joined hands on May 3rd at Tufts University, Medford, MA, to create an opportunity for children of grade 2 - 8 to participate in MATH BEE and also help spread the light of education to the under privileged in rural and tribal India. It consisted of 60 multiple choice grade appropriate questions. The children had exactly 60 minutes to solve them without the assistance of calculators.
All participants received a certificate for community service. In addition, while the parents and children were waiting for the results to be declared, Anil Saigal, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Tufts University, Aditya Kalluri and Shweta Dravida, students from Harvard/MIT and Yale/MIT, respectively, discussed preparation for college.
Special thanks to Amrit Soni, President, Ekal Vidyalaya, and Gauri Chandana, Director, ATFS Center, and all the volunteers for making this event a success.

Level 2 (Grades 4 and 5) 1st Place: Aarush Patnala 2nd Place: Karthik Seetharama 3rd Place: Tanush Mittal
Level 3 (Grades 6, 7 and 8) 1st Place: Sukethram Sivakumar 2nd Place: Arvind Sridhar 3rd Place: Aarzu Miharia
The event helped raise funds for several schools in India.
