An entertaining evening of music and dance highlighting various famous actors from Hindi Films known for their dancing skills and regaling you with wonderful songs and dances from their movies. Tickets at www. Sankaracancer.org/events/tickets.
What do Vyjayantimala, Padmini, Waheeda Rehman, Hema Malini, Madhuri Dixit, Gopi Krishna, Sandhya, Sridevi, Rekha, Aruna Irani, Helen, Asha Parekh, Aishwarya Rai and Deepika Padukone have in common? The common thread that runs through these actors on the silver screen is their close association with dance. Rhytm, grace, innovation and sheer abandon characterizes many of their dance performances and many of their famous songs and dances live on today.
Baaje Tori Paayaliya is an event that uniquely blends the legacy of these famous actors with live dances and singing and presents an evening of enthralling dance and music, along with narration outlining these wonderful actors and their achievements.
A number of excellent singers in the area are participating with numerous exemplary dancers from various schools led by creative and dedicated teacher-choreographers. Get ready to be enthralled with songs like “Koi Matwalaâ€, Nav Kalpanaâ€, “ Barso Reâ€, “ O Haseena Zulfonwali†and“ Hamari Atriayaâ€and many more. Various genres of singing and dancing styles are represented with unique choreography ranging from semi-classical to folk to modern/fusion dance forms.
Accomplished and erudite Emcees will introduce the Divas, skilful AV, stage management teams and organizational and creative teams will present an event that will transport you into the vibrant and colorful world of music and dance.
“This concept is something I have hoped to bring to fruition as a partnership between dancers and singers in our community in an attempt to expand our interpretation of the material available yet do it ample justice. We are thrilled to be dedicating this event’s net proceed to Sankara Cancer Foundation who are doing stellar work in Women’s health.†, says Meena Sundaram, the producer and creative director.
Rajesh Vaidheeswaran, who leads Sankara Cancer Foundation, elaborates “Sankara Cancer Foundation's goal for 2014 is to establish regular breast cancer screenings at the Hindu Mission Hospital at Trichy to augment the other NCD (non-communicable disease) screening work that is already going on and successfully saving lives. Given the trends in lifestyle and diet, Breast cancer is considered to be a very high growth disease in India and the statistics are stark.
In 2012 in India, 144,937 were diagnosed and 70218 died of breast cancer. That is, for every two women newly diagnosed with breast cancer, one died of it. And one in twenty eight women will be diagnosed with it in her lifetime. That is a mother, a sister, a wife, a daughter and a friend to someone we know personally."
