Do you have an interest in the visual arts? Would you like your artwork seen by a wide audience? Would you like to help underprivileged children in rural and tribal India to get an education? The IndiArt competition is for you.
Deadline for Submissions - Dec 31, 2013
IndiArt is designed to enable children from the New England area to use their art to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged children in India. The competition is in three categories:
Sub-junior (6-10), Junior (11-13) and Senior (14-17)
In each category, the first place winner gets a cash award of $200 . The second place winner gets a cash award of $100. All artwork will be put up for silent auction at the art show to be held on January 26, 2014. All entries will receive a participation certificate. The net funds raised from this event will go to support Ekal Vidyalaya schools in India.
About Ekal Vidyalaya
Ekal runs 51,717 schools in rural and tribal areas of India where there is no other access to education! Ekal students typically come from families well below the poverty line (i.e earn less than a $1.25 per day). Ekal firmly believes that children are agents of change. Educating a single child can pull an entire family out of poverty and that is exactly what Ekal intends to do. Education in these conditions is a combination of literacy, micro entrepreneurship and basic healthcare. Ekal educates over a million students with an army of volunteers and visionary leadership with a very low overhead of *less* than 10%!
