Ekta, the annual south asian cultural show at the Harvard Business school themed its show on a comical transformation of Porter's famous five force analysis into Cupid's five forces.  A delightful offering of music and dance weaved in with comedy made the event a treat to watch.

“My dream for EKTA 2013 is for it to be a fun way to celebrate South Asian culture. Today, you will see many different styles. Some acts are traditional – beware of the colorful Bhangra dancers who will make you want to brroooouha. Others break the rules– watch the talented ladies meld traditional classical dance with hip hop. And yet others are just plain sexy – check out the fashion show models as they walk the walk” says Tanvi Goel, who directed the show.

First year students at HBS are called  â€œRC” which is an abbreviation for “Required Courses”.  These are students who study the core curriculum. The second year students are called “EC”, which is an abbreviation for “Elective Courses”.

The showcase included several delightful Bhangara and Bollywood number. A classical piece set to the piece “Red Sun” by Anushka Shankar featured a jugalbandhi between Kathak and Bharatanatyam dancers.  A lovely fashion show showcased fabulous clothing in the latest styles from India. Another fusion number had a dance off between hip-hop and contemporary Indian.  There was also a band Garam Masala that presented a few lovely numbers.

The traditional “RC” EC” Bhangara competition brought the show to a close with the audience screaming their support for their favorite team. EC Bhangara was declared the winner.

A fabulous fun event that keeps the audience quite entertained.
