Celestial Minds "Ni Sa Re Ga"

Celestial Minds musical evening “ Ni Sa Re Ga” was held on Oct 5th 2013 at Chinmaya Mission Auditorium, Andover MA. "Ni Sa Re Ga" featured Karnataka Kalashree Prof.S.Mallanna, a visiting artist from Mysore, India. Program was a blend of creativity, harmony, melody and rhythm. It was a unique program with presentation of popular songs and old film hits from different Indian languages.

Prof.S.Mallanna, lead singer of the program, took audience back to the bygone era of Indian cinema by presenting  songs of playback singers P.B.Srinivas, Ghantasala, Hemanth Kumar, Dr.RajKumar,   P.Kalinga Rao to name a few.  Prof. S Mallanna mesmerized audience with his resonant voice and with memorable songs in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.

However, music  for songs composed by Prof.S.Mallanna himself  and written by his wife , poetess Prof. K.R.Premaleela Mallanna  were highlight of the evening, that the Orchestra team rendered with a wonderful back ground  music.

President of Celestial Minds Prasanna Nagabhushan, Founder Director of Celestial Minds, Kavyashree Mallanna walked the audience through the milestones achieved by Celestial Minds in past decade.

Chief guests of the event Preetesh Shrivastava, Dr.Nishikant Sonwalkar, Dr.Anil Saigal, Ranjani Saigal, Dr.Pradeep Shukla  inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp.

Chief guest and one of the speakers of the day,  Preetesh Shrivastava expressed his admiration to Kavya Mallanna and Celestial Minds for their efforts in recognizing so many talents in New England in the field of Chess and Music. He shared his thoughts on how these two fields are heavily associated with right side of the brain;  " Every individual must think beyond boundaries, think outside the box and get subtle hints of life of unblock the infinite possibilities." Preetesh Shrivastava quoted.

Dr.Pradeep Shukla congratulated Celestial Minds for serving the community and appreciated Kavyashree's accomplishments as an USCF expert rated chess player who is also  imparting this knowledge to younger talents. " Chess and Music can teach children creativity, concentration skills, social bonding and teaches self expression " Dr.Shukla quoted.

Ranjani Saigal addressed audience and quoted " Children minds should open towards sports and music, that has the power to  open up many pathways in the world and can conquer everything."

Back ground music by instrument artists was magnetic. Ravi Torvi on harmonium, Nikhil Pendharkar on keyboard, Shridhar Ganapuram on percussion, Dr.Nishikant Sonwalkar on tabla, Shea Ellis on guitar superbly accompanied the lead artist.

Guest singers added additional charm to the music program. Advisory team member of Celestial minds Ravi Torvi, who is also a talented singer and harmonium artist, sang a popular Hindi song by Yesu Das; Ravi also composed an instrumental ensemble presentation and honored the members of the band.

Miss Selina Banerjee, trained under Dr. Pradeep Shukla made a wonderful effort to learn and present a kannada duet song with Prof.S.Mallanna. Madhusudhan Akkihebbal sang a melodious Tamil song from Roja. Shobha Hiremath sang an old kannada duet with lead singer.

On this occasion Celestial Minds also felicitated renowned artists from New England area and honored Chess students trained under Kavyashree Mallanna, who have won in the United States Chess Federation Rated scholastic tournaments.

Trained under Kavyashree Mallanna, advanced chess students of Celestial Minds, Akhil Kammila, Anish Kammila, Suhas Katikaneni, Sanjana Kunnikuru were honored with the “ Outstanding Chess Performance” titles; Neil Kachapilly, Amish Mathews, Rushi Girish, Rohan Anand, Saranya Balaharan, Aryan Mitta, Avneesh Prabakar, Shreyas Sinha were honored for their high score in Chess quiz conducted in 2013.

Bharatanatyam Classical Dance artists and teachers Jeyanthi Ghatraju and Poornima Risbud were felicitated by Celestial Minds team and chief guests for their contribution to the field of arts. Dr.Krupa and Dr.Rajur were honored for bringing the  world kannada convention to Boston in 2013.

Event was organized by Celestial Minds in association with Hamsadhvani Cultural Trust started by Prof.S.Mallanna and Prof.K.R.Premaleela Mallanna. Hamsadhvani has been promoting music and literary oriented activities in southern India.  Both professors who were  invited to attend world kannada summit this summer,  were also part of other music programs in the area. For the very first time,  Vedanta Society, Rhode Island  hosted semi classical kannada light music program that featured Prof.S.Mallanna and team.

Celestial Minds continues to promote Sports and Arts in the area, a unique but complementing blend of excitement, challenge, glory, expressions, creativity of infinite combinations.
