WAR CHHOD NA YAAR, a war comedy has music by new comer Aslam Keyi.
Say no to war, the message behind the film is evident from the nice racy title track, 'War Chhod Na Yaar' which is rendered by Bappi Lahiri , in his mast lovable style. Aiding him in his effort is Rimi Dhar and Candy D'Souza who provide the interesting back up and rap vocals. Despite dealing with a very serious issue, the lyrics are light hearted and humorous.
Shreya Goshal shines brightly in 'Main Jagoon Aksar' which is a love duet she sings with Javed Ali . The 'qawwali' chorus (Ali Aslam) is beautiful and a sure fire hit.
There is another version of 'Main Jagoon Aksar' and here Shujath Ali Khan replaces Javed Ali and is a nice departure from the original.
'Phat Gaya' appears to be a typical army 'fauji' song of camaraderie. It is not patriotic as it has high political overtones and is a situational number that deals with the nitty-gritty of war and its fall out. It has been a while since we heard Daler Mehdi whose voice suits this situational number.
The patriotic 'Mharo Desh Mahan' is rendered by Kailash Kher in his popular and well loved high pitched and full of emotions style and is a nice number that talks about India, though mostly rural. The use of Hindustani musical arrangements and Rajashthani flavor enhance the rustic/ 'desi' flavor.
'Khawabon Si Jo', a superb inspirational and motivational number that has many shades of pop, soft rock and rock and roll. Naresh Iyer does well in his modulating vocals and is ably aided by a superb chorus. Ali Azmat and Sujith Kumar join hands for the second version of 'Khwabon Si Joâ€.
Army sounds herald 'Jai Jawan', a racy, situational song that talks about the army 'jawans', the unsung heroes who guard our borders. Sung by Sukhwinder Singh in his very own high pitched, zestful, trademark manner as he pays eulogies to the 'faujis'.
Sonu Nigam is at his eclectic best with 'Kurban', which may sound at first like a love ballad but takes the shape of a nice, patriotic number and is aided by Javed Khan as back up chorals. The number is situational in nature and may be used as a background score
Another number that talks about army 'jawans' is 'Fauji', although this time its a more contemporary hip hop number that is aimed at the Gen X and sung by Mika Singh along with Marriane D'Cruz and Brijesh Shandilya . Rapper Luv O Trigger provides the interesting but apt rap, and overall the song is definitely a unique effort on the part of the team and needs to be lauded. The club mix of 'Fauji' is quite nice.
A nice love song 'Ishq Mein Tere' is sung by Divya Kumar, Tripti Sinha, Vardan and Deepali Sathe. The soft melodic arrangements and clicking fingers and lovely chorals add to the romance.
The audio of WAR CHHOD NA YAAR is overall a good, and surprisingly pleasant hear. Good job from a new comer.
