Shri Dwarkamai Sports Team organized their Second Indoor Tennis Tournament at the Woburn Racquet Club on September 7th 2013. Our Tennis Tournament is being conducted every year to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital.
The community from all around the greater Boston neighborhood was invited to participate in the event and we had about 135 online registrations on our Dwarkamai website and 15 on the spot registrations. The number of registrations has increased from 110 last year to 150 this year, in just its second year of conducting the tournament. This year a total of 125 matches were played throughout the day in various categories, finishing in about 10 hours. The feedback from many of our participants this year, was that the Tournament was very well organized and most efficiently executed with proper use of technology and organization skills.
Though all the matches were great, the highlight of the day was on the Men’s Finals between Rohit Nakra of India and Miguel Herrera of Mexico with Rohit Nakra winning the finals. The Student Finals was equally exciting. We raised about $900 from the Tournament and received a $600 sponsorship from Shri Dwarkamai . We were able to donate this $1500 to the Boston Children’s Hospital. All cheers to our Dwarkamai Seva volunteers and all the participants who shared their strength and spirit to make this Tournament happen and evolve to be a great success.
