Saqib Syed 07/29/2013 Cricket has become a weekend routine for some of the Indians and Pakistanis in the Metrowest area. The Municipal Field in Shrewsbury which hosted its first game in Sep 2011 is currently running at full capacity during summer with 4 games played each weekend. The cricket ground hosts two leagues - the Massachusetts State Cricket League (MSCL) and the Tennis Ball Cricket League. Both leagues play 2 games each on the weekend. The purpose of this cricket ground was not just for adult recreation. Saqib Syed and Fazal Alam, two Shrewsbury residents and former cricketers started the cricket clinic for kids last summer with a vision to promote cricket at the town level across United States. The clinic is in high demand and has grown to 40 kids this summer. The kids aged 7-12yrs get basic batting, bowling, and fielding skills. Adrian Jordan, a ICC Level 1 certified coach oversees the activities of the kids. "The plan is to identify talent at an early stage and send some of the talented kids to the high performance coaching clinics in the future", said Saqib Syed.
