The third annual Hudson Cricket charity tournament (HCCT-2013) concluded successfully at Greeley Park on May 19th 2013. Team Baba took the honor of being the HCCT champion once again by beating Rockers team in the 2013 title game. Team Baba won the HCCT tournament for two consecutive years (2013 & 2012) now. Waltham XI team won the inaugural tournament in 2011. A total of 15 teams participated in this 2013 eleven-a-side tournament played with hard tennis cricket balls, helping Hudson Cricket Club raise about $2000.
Hudson Cricket Club will use the funds generated from this event, with games played at Greeley Park in Nashua, to benefit the below charities.
The second beneficiary is CRY, Child Rights and You America Inc (www.cry.org) The fourth beneficiary is Nashua Recreation & Sports. A donation of $200 will be made to them for providing the grounds for the HCCT-2013 Cricket Tournament.
All matches were played on the weekends (04/27/2013 - 05/19/2013) in a great fun environment while maintaining the competitive spirit. All the games were conducted as scheduled which would not have been possible with out the co-operation of the participating teams.
Team Baba beat the Regal Strikers (host team) in the semifinals of Group 1 and Rockers team topped the Team Nukes in the Group 2 semifinal. Team Nukes and Regal Strikers won the third and fourth places respectively. Rohan from Team Baba was adjudged the MVP of the finals. Premal & Rohan (both from Team Baba) were adjudged the best Batsman & Best Bowler respectively for the HCCT 2013 tournament.
The finals were followed by the prize distribution ceremony at Greeley Park. HCCT organizers distributed trophies to all winners, runners-up, semi-finalists, umpires and the volunteers. Each team paid an entry fee of $200 towards this fundraiser. Players and spectators appreciated HCCT commitment to the charity events, and they were all praise for organizers for carrying out the third annual event with perfection.
