Winners of Indian Idol gave a fabulous live mesmerizing performance at the Foxwood Theater in Connecticut on May 4, 2013. Surendra Sharma of Milan, Dr. Ravi Prakash and others should be commended to bring such an amazing show to New England. Torsha Sarkar, Devendra Singh, Vipul Mehta, Amit Kumar and Poorvi Koutish sang to the accompaniment of a fabulous live band.
The show titled Rockstars Live, The Next Gen Show was a fabulous musical program with amazingly talented singers presenting a range of Bollywood numbers to the live accompaniment of brilliant musicians under the leadership of Girish Vishwa of Sa Re Ga Ma fame. The event was brought to the New England area thanks to Dr. Sharma and other members of Milan. The event opened with a few dance numbers by local dance groups where Monica Gill served as an MCEE and then moved on to the main segment of the evening.
Amit Kumar opened with Rabba Main To, Avi Avi and Tashan Titel. His powerful voice particularly suited Rabba Main To. Torsha then came on to sing a mix of the old and new with Main Pareshan, Rangela Re and Koyi Yaha Nache Nache. The audience was quite ready to dance to her rendition of Bappi Da’s Nache Nache.
Vipul then took center stage with Ek Hasina Thi, Naino Ki Mat Maniyo, Dil Se, Tere Mast Mast Do Nain and Tum Jo Mil Gaye. His powerful voice did justice to even Rahat Fateh Ali’s Mast Mast Do Nain. Purvi came on to render Sanorita, Churaliya and Meri Ja Maine Kaha. She was a dynamite presenter. The first half came to an end with Devendar singing Gal Mithe Mithe Bol.
All the singers came in the second half with a range of old and new numbers including the evergreen Kajra Mohabbatwala.
It was an extraordinary treat to listen to a live concert by singers of this caliber to the accompaniment of a fabulous live band. We hope the stars return next year for this is treat that should not be missed.
