Nirmala Garimella and Chitra Parayath 05/07/2003
Mother's Day is a time of commemoration and celebration for Mom. It is a time of breakfast in bed, family gatherings, and crayon scribbled "I Love You"s.
We honor a few Super moms here, if you want your mom featured here, do let us know!
Post a comment, tell the world how wonderful and special she is.
We asked the super moms these questions.
1. What is the best gift ever that you have received on Mother day?
2. What, according to you, is the best and the worst aspect of being a mom?
3.Do you think your husband should honor you or his
mom on mother's day?
4.What will be your message for all moms on Mother's
day ?
-Leena Sundaravel
1. The best gift I ever received on mother's day was: I got to spend the whole day playing in the mud outside, just me and my plants.
2. The best part of being a mom is: you get this bundle of joy and the worst part is that it grows up!
3. Who else but ME, ME and ME of course, (if he wants to spend the rest of his life in peace!)
4. If you're already a mom let me convey my condolences, and to those who're contemplating it, all I can say is ,"Woman, are you insane!"

1. My best gift is the fact that Mother's Day is totally ignored in my home. Never have I received a gift for Mother's Day, and I am insulted that you imply that I might. As if I would ever accept one if it had been offered!! Us genuine Super Moms are entirely service minded. I would be so insulted if anyone acknowledged my hard work, constant presence, reliability, picking-up-after, putting-up-with-it, dedication, and love.
2. Being able to perform my services to the best of my abilities, of
course. It is especially satisfying when a member of my family finds some triviality that I may have overlooked (so unforgivable!) and quite rightly castigates me for this.
The worst aspect? When one of my kids says, "Mom, I love you", I feel so undeserving.
3.My husband's mom and I both honor him on Mother's Day (and every other day of the year, for that matter).
4. Give more... and more, and more, and more... more... more... (fades into the distance... more...)
Vidya Nair
1. A handmade card made by Akshay and Pallavi when they were in
elementary school was the best gift I received.
2. Best thing: Having the satisfaction of knowing that my kids are
growing to be responsible and well rounded human beings. .
Worst thing: A mom's job is never done !
3. His mother ofcourse ( but it would be nice to recieve a small expensive gift from him !!). .
4. Enjoy and love your kids. Every child is special, so don't
compare your
kids with others. If you have young ones, hold and cuddle them as often as you can because they grow too fast.
Devi Katikeneni
1.Definitely the works of art (beautifully hand drawn greeting cards).
2. The best aspect of being a mom is the love and the bond you have with your children; the worst aspect is the worrying (unnecessarily, most of the time) that goes along with being mom.
3. His mom on mother's day, and the other days......
4. Today is your day. Relax, be pampered, and enjoy all the attention that comes your way. Don't succumb to the notion that you have to prepare and do something extra special for the kids and the husband on mother's day.
Pratima Kopakka
1.The best gift was a beautiful poster that Sinduja gave me stating all the things I liked and what she likes about me. She also gave me the Award for the Best mom in the world.
2.The best aspect of being a mom is enjoying the feeling of warmth and love and the worst is the fear that you will do something wrong and of course the tension of having a preteen daughter.
3.His mother and encouraging my children to honor their mother
,
4.Go with the flow. Don’t read any of those ‘perfect mother’ books and take it as it comes.
Rachel Chacko
1. I love getting cards from my children especially if they made the cards. Their cards are so sincere and just warm my heart. I don't like getting gifts though my husband almost always splurges on something metallic. .
2. The best part of being a mom is the joy of seeing the kids everyday. ( I'll kill them if they ever think of leaving home.. just kidding kids!) .
3. Husbands seem to do a lot for their wives on this day. I don't get it though. I am not my husband's mom. Good not to get these roles confused. .
4. Message for all moms. "Can you believe how lucky we are?"
A Mom's day Poem
Your Mother is always with you
She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street,
she's the smell of bleach in your freshly laundered socks,
she's the cool hand on your brow when you're not well.
Your Mother lives inside your laughter
And she's crystallized in every tear drop.
She's the place you came from, your first home;
And she's the map you follow with every step you take.
She's your first love and your first heartbreak,
and nothing on earth can separate you...
Not time, not space... not even death!

Did you know? In the United States Mother's Day was first suggested in 1872 by Julia Ward Howe (who wrote the words to the Battle hymn of the Republic) as a day dedicated to peace. Ms. Howe would hold organized Mother's Day meetings in Boston, MA ever year.
