With the chiming of the bells, chanting of the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, Linga Abhishekam and dancing to the high energy drum beat, the Sivaratri celebrations at the Sree Vijaya Durga Temple transported devotees to a higher spiritual plan. As the priest, Shri Tejas Putcha, performed the pooja and made his offerings to Mahakali the Mother's presence in the temple was palpable. "The holding of heads by Mahakali is very symbolic. If we give Her head - as in allow Her to guide our actions, our lives will be filled with peace and love" said Tejas. It was an intense an unforgettable experience.
Sivaratri was celebrated at Sree Vijaya Durga Temple on Saturday, 9th instant from 9 pm to next morning 6 am. The event was filled with various activities and started with Ganesh Puja at 9 pm. This was followed by Kaal Bhairav Puja. Special Kaal Bhairav alankar was done for the event. Kaal Bhairav was invoked and a special Bhairav vahan puja was performed.
Kaal Bhairav Havan (Homam) was done before the midnight followed by Lingodbhava Kala Puja from Sun, 12:00-1:30 am. Rudra parayanam was continuously chanted till 6 am where all the devotees participated in the abhishek to Shiva.
Kaal Bhairav alankar darshan can be availed till Sunday, 3/16.
The deities worshipped at Sree Vijaya Durga Temple are Durga and Kali. The regular monthly events include special Kali puja on every Amavasya (no-moon day), Samuhika Satyanarayana puja on every pournami (full-moon day), Ganesha Abhishekam on every Sankata Hara Chaturthi and Subrahmanya Abhishekam on every Skanda Shasti. The regular weekly events include Monday Rdabhishekams, Friday Lalitha Sahasranama kum kum Archana and Saturday sanivar kali puja. The temple operates under Sri Siddha Lalitha Peetham, a registered 501(c)3 organization. All devotees are welcome to visit the temple and receive Devi’s blessings.
