New England's premiere Bengali association, Bangla-O-Biswa, recently celebrated the Saraswati Puja at Saint Matthews Church, Acton MA, on February 16, 2013 with its full religious fervor, merriment and simplicity. Even with the outpour of intermittent snow showers did not dampen the true spirits of Bangla-O-Biswa members and patrons to assemble together and celebrate the festivity. Almost 250 people thronged over the place. The event began with a traditional Puja ceremony performed by Gautam Maulik with assistance by Nilanjana Maulik, Rinku Pal, Deepmala Roy, Debraj Roy, Amrita Datta and Arijita Ghosh. The Pooja was a perfect reminisce of childhood days back in India. Floral offerings were made to Goodness Saraswati concluded with Anjali and Hathay khori. After the Pujo, Prasad distribution was followed with sumptuous lunch prepared by the volunteers and served by Rinku Pal, Sharmila Biswas, Radhika Barua, Utpala Bandyopadhyay, and team. Audience enjoyed eye catching cultural program conducted and organized by Arpita Chakraborty and Sameer Chakraborty. Many talented performers and local talents showcased their talents in the cultural program. Mr. Soumitro Pal pioneered the front desk management and the reception area with overwhelming turn-up. The festival ended with worshiping to the goddess of knowledge and welcoming the arrival of spring. Overall a well organized community event and an astonishing tribute indeed to the Goddess of knowledge.
