9-Kundiya-Yagya At Dwarkamai Sai Temple By Gayatri Pariwar

Press Release
12/19/2012

Splendor of Gayatri Yagya in Dwarkamai  enthralled devotees gathered to celebrate the auspicious month of Maarg-shirsha, the ninth month of Hindu calendar with which Bhagwan Krishna specially identifies Himself in Gita. In this auspicious month Hindus celebrate three key festivals, Gita Jayanti, Dattatreya Jayanti and Mokshda Ekadashi.

As a sub-freezing wintry storm was progressing in the afternoon of December 16th, 2012, devotees started trickling into the spiritual sanctuary of Dwarkamai. Soon, it got bustling all over and the initially planned 5-kundiya yagya has to be expanded into 9-kundiya yagya, to  enable all present to offer their ahutis.

Evening rolled out with the melodious rendition of Gayatri Mantra & Sai-dhun led by Sangeeta Saxena, a volunteer priestess of Gayatri Pariwar. She presented an enchanting narrative of Bhagwan Krishna as a Jagadguru, who provides solutions to the world problems, as He did in the era of Mahabharat.

वसुदेवसुतं देवं, कंस चाणूरमर्दनम् । देवकी परमानन्दम्, à¤•à¥ƒà¤·à¥à¤£à¤‚ वन्दे जगद्गुरुम à¥¥

She continued, "Shri Krishna's counsel to His friend and disciple, Arjuna in the middle of the battle field is relevant even in today's world and times. This divine wisdom encapsulated in Gita, can potentially calm the agitated minds of our world's people experiencing the pangs of unbearable agony." Sangeeta-ji, emphasized that, Acharya Shriram Sharma has re-interpreted and contextualized the "Gita" as "Yuga-Gita (युग-गीता)for the people of modern times, who want to understand everything in a rational framework rather than taking a leap of blind faith.

Sanjay Saxena conducted and interspersed the ceremony with lucid commentary based on the teachings of Acharya-ji, which underscores that Yagya has the potential to bring about peace and purity of mind from the subtle dimensions (सूक्ष्म-जगत), remove the mental currents of enmity, envy, greed, anger, and sorrow etc. Yajmaans offered 108 ahutis including Krishna-Gayatri, Sai-Gayatri and Mahamritunjay and Gayatri Mantra. Congregation also prayed for peace and mental strength to the survivors and offered condolences for the victims of recent tragedy of Sandy Hook Elementary School at Newtown, CT.

Enthusiastic support of the volunteers of Dwarkamai  and Gayatri Pariwar, who poured  their heart and hard work, turned this spiritual celebration, into a memorable event. Sandeep Shrivastava led the evening to conclusion with Aarti and Mantra-pushpanjali. Devotees of Dwarkamai offered delicious Mahaprasad (dinner) which they prepared with lots of love and care.

Towards conclusion of the evening, during 'Dev-dakshina-purnahuti' (देव-दक्षिणा à¤ªà¥‚र्णाहुति), all participants took vows to give up one weakness/undesirable habit in their lives and also took a vow to inculcate a new strength/good habit for the continued progress and transformation of their lives.

This enchanting  evening turned out to be a rousing success with intensely active engagement of all present. As rightly exclaims Sharda Jha on the event page, "what a spiritual experience we had!! Thank you so much Sangeeta Saxena for the opportunity for us to be part of this MAHAYAG.

Shri Dwarkamai Vidyapeeth, Shri Shirdi Sai Baba Center of Spiritual Excellence, also hosts lectures by Vedic scholars, health and wellness professionals, meditation sessions, yoga and kids enrichment activities and charitable give back to community. It's a matter of immense pleasure that, "Shri Gurusthan",  another division of Dwarkmai is opening shortly on 27-DEC-2012. All are welcome to join in the grand opening.
