Speeches by a Nobel Laureate and other special members of the NE community and a grand cultural extravaganza are part of the annual Hindu Heritage Day to be held in Marlborough Middle School on Saturday, May10th at 6:00 pm.
Renewal is the theme of this year's Hindu Heritage Day. Why "Renewal"? "Hinduism has over the centuries found roots in different parts of the world. While retaining the core values like non-violence, respect for the environment etc it has acquired local color renewed itself and sprung forth like the sparkling waters of the Ganga on different soils. We are celebrating that renewal in the New England soil," says Dr. Nachiketa Tiwari, who is one of the organizers of the event.
"Quality has been the hallmark of the Hindu Heritage Day cultural show. We are delighted that this year also we are able to showcase some outstanding talents," says Sanjay Kaul who is the coordinator of this event. "We are very pleased that a New England Nobel Laureate has kindly agreed to be the guest speaker. He will speak on "Individual responsibility and the pursuit of science" a topic of great relevance to all."
Sudarshan Belsare, a professional Bharatanatyam dancer who is doing his Masters in Fine Arts at the Mass College of Arts, will be presenting a special creation. He will be presenting a unique version of the traditional piece "Natanam Adinar". He has enhanced the piece to depict the concept of dissolution and renewal through Ananda Tandava. This is a special treat for dance aficionados. Yet another special presentation is a vocal recital by Anurag Harsh, who is a student of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. Other items include a one-act play on "Bhakta Prahlad" scripted by Yakshagana performer Raghuram Shetty and presentations from local dance schools.
Food, as we all know is central to a good celebration. Five major restaurants from the Boston area will be providing the dinner for the evening. For further information please send an email to hinduheritage2003@yahoo.com or call Sanjay Kaul at 781.893.4982.
