PROBLEM #2
A pearl necklace has 33 pearls with the largest and most valuable in the middle. Starting from one end, each successive pearl is worth $100 more than the one before (up to the middle one), but starting from the other end each pearl is worth $150 more than the one before, up to the big pearl. The whole necklace is worth $65 000.
What is the value of the middle pearl?

A large water tank has two inlet pipes (a large one and a small one) and one outlet pipe. It takes 2 hours to fill the tank with the large inlet pipe. On the other hand, it takes 4 hours to fill the tank with the small inlet pipe. The outlet pipe allows the full tank to be emptied in 6 hours.What fraction of the tank (initially empty) will be filled in 1.29 hours if all three pipes are in operation?SOLUTION 1
