Sri Krishna Janmashtmi Cultural Program at NESSP Temple Chelmsford
The day started with Kakad(morning) aarthi in Sri Sai Baba Temple in Chelmsford, daily worship routine continued during daytime and Bhandara team started preparations in afternoon for Mahaparad as Sri Sai Temple gets ready to welcome devotees on the auspicious occassion of Janmashtmi. NESSP parivaar organized cultural program to celebrate the day with great spirit and devotion on Friday August 10th.
Krishna Janmashtmi is a celebration of Lord Krishna’s birthday and the tithi (date) is 8th day of krishna paksha in ‘Bhadrapada’ month. The festival is grand in city of His birth- Mathura in Uttar Pradesh. Temples and Hindu families all over the world celebrate the day with Sri Krishna and Radha jhankis (small exhibition depicting story of God’s lifetime as Krishna avatar) , fasting, special sweets, Bhajans, kids dress up and cultural programs, also keeping a cradle with image of Gopal and rocking it as a part of worship. Devotees call Him by many names -Krishna, Mohan, Kishan, Nandlal, Kanhaiya, Bansuriwala, Giridhar, Shyaam, Makhanchor, Manohar.
It is an evening of Aug 10,2012 and inspite of heavy rains and traffic jams, more than 500 devotees came to receive blessings of Krishna Sai. Almost all kids were dressed up as Gopals and Radhas and they all walked together to announce their names and dress up on mike. The cultural program had dance perfromances and group bhajans prepared by areas renound classical dance and music teachers and volunteers. The Bhandara team, as always, prepared special kids food also as a part of Mahaprasad. The gifts/momentos were given to all participants and they were provided by Smt.Subba Veddula.
Mangalacharan-Odissi was presented by students of Jayashree Mohapatra, krishna bhajans by students of Jyoti Sharma, Bharatnatyam by students of Jeyanthi Ghatraju and Neha Parikh, Kathak by Monalisa Mitra, krishna lila dance by NH Dance group-Nikita Rao, popular Kids dance by Manasa Jeyanthi. The program was coordinated by Aruna Thummepalli, music and emcee by Ramakanth ji, stage management by Ruchika Arora.
Some of the performers names are Shruti Challa, Isha Macha, Rishika, Priya, Ishanvi, Neha Vijay, Nitin Vijay, Siri, Pranu, Shreya Hegde, Neha Parikh, Ishita Rao, Ikshaan Rao, Sarala Sharma, Janani Sharma, Garmima, Prapthi, Muskaan, Garima Lalwani, Juhi Lalwani, Forum Patel, Eshna Master, Anuva Agrawal, Avani Agrawal, Mona Bhowmick, Sriveda, Manu, Iswarya, Manasa, Bhoomika Kumar, Aditi Padhi, Alpana Buxi, Arya Mohanty, Dharini Kapadia, Gati Aher, Khushi Morparia, Medha Morparia, Simran Dilip, Sukriti Kushwaha, Tanvi Kodukulla, Suhani Parekh, Shreya, Adarsha, Ishanvi Bachawal, Suma Chekaradi, Arya Gor, Ananya Raj Gopal, Shreya Manikandan, Nithya and Gowri, Preerika Kulkarni, Sahaja Surpaneni, Madhumita and Mahati Atreya, Jairaj Sharma, Aditi Venkateshan.
