08/01/2012 Come celebrate the arrival of summer with a fun-packed outdoor event Reach for the Sky on Saturday, August 4th, 2012 from 2 pm to 5 pm as we fill the sky with kites and the air with laughter on Spectacle Island, one of the Boston Harbor Islands. The event is hosted by the American India Foundation’s New England Young Professionals Chapter (AIF NEYP) and is aimed at supporting education in India. “Reach for the Sky†is a family event that begins with a beautiful ferry ride through Boston Harbor to the island. Once there, you’ll have a chance to fly kites as well as indulge in other outdoor activities for all ages. We have henna, volleyball, cricket and kites for both adults and children. The island is composed of sandy beaches, and two hills that allow for beautiful walks. We will also have a volleyball tournament, so bring along your competitive side! Indian snacks and refreshments will be provided by Passage to India. All proceeds go towards AIF’s Learning & Migration Program (LAMP). LAMP gives children of migrant workers access to continuous primary education, preventing them from dropping out and promoting age-appropriate learning. The program has already reached out to 237,504 children in the migration prone areas of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, and Bihar.
