07/11/2012 About the ballet Sri
Kuchipudi Natyalaya is proud to present "Tripaadi Ganga", a Kuchipudi
repertoire, in association with AIF.
This drama, composed by the illustrious Guru Sri Pasumarthy Ramalinga Sastry,
uses the legends of the sacred river Ganges (personified as Ganga) to
illustrate the three basic types of heroines or Nayikas described in
Natyashastra. Join us as we take you on a dazzling journey from Ganga’s
mythical birth in krita yuga to her continuing legacy in kali yuga
(present). Our groups of 18 dancers have
worked hard for many days to present “Tripaadi Ganga†in all its splendor with
eye capturing colors, memorable characters, and more importantly, riveting storytelling,
a characteristic unique to the Kuchipudi genre. About the choreographer Guru Sri Pasumarthy
