The second annual Hudson Cricket charity tournament (HCCT-2012) concluded successfully at Greeley Park on April 29 2012. Team Baba took the honor of being the HCCT 2012 champion by beating Galaxy team in the title game. A total of 18 teams participated in this eleven-a-side tournament played with hard tennis cricket balls, helping Hudson Cricket Club raise $2000.

 

Hudson Cricket Club will use the funds generated from this event, with games played at Greeley Park and Yudickky Fields in Nashua, to benefit the below charities.

 

The first beneficiary is Compassionate friends, Nashua chapter. (http://www.tcfmanchester.org/resources.html)

The second beneficiary is CRY, Child Rights and You America Inc (www.cry.org)

The third beneficiary is Shankara Eye Foundation (www.giftofvision.org)

The fourth beneficiary is Nashua Recreation & Sports. A donation of $250 has been given to them for providing the grounds for the HCCT-2012 Cricket Tournament.

 

All matches were played on the weekends (04/21 - 04/29) in a great fun environment while maintaining the competitive spirit. Although the first weekend was marred by brief interruptions of rain, all the games were conducted as scheduled which would not have been possible without the co-operation of the participating teams.

 

Team Baba beat the Regal Strikers (host team) in the semifinals of Group 1 and Galaxy team topped the Seamers in the Group 2 semifinal.

Hiren from Team Baba was adjudged the MVP of the finals. Safu (Galaxy team) who scored over 100 runs in the tournament & Hiren were adjudged the best Batsman & Best Bowler respectively for the HCCT 2012 tournament.

 

The finals were followed by the prize distribution ceremony at Greeley Park. HCCT organizers distributed trophies to all winners, runners-up, umpires, volunteers and the semifinalist captains. Each team paid an entry fee of $175 towards this fundraiser.  Players and spectators appreciated HCCT commitment to the charity events, and they were all praise for organizers for carrying out the second annual event with perfection.
