The annual South Asian culture show Yaadein, was held on April 20th at the Kresge Auditorium where MIT undergraduates showcased their multifaceted talents in the arts. MIT's South Asian a cappella group presented their unique arrangements of Bollywood and Western tunes at their Spring Concert - Brohmance held at MIT on May 12, 2012.

The diversity of South Asian Talent was reflected in the show.  The presentations ranged from traditional classical music and dance to Bollywood Music and dance numbers in a variety of styles.  Fusion of styles was very visible in most presentations.

MIT Swara, MIT Natya, MIT Ohms, Bollywood Babes, Rangeela, MIT Ohms, MIT Mirchi, MIT Chamak and  MIT Bhangara  presented interesting music and dance numbers.

Monies raised were donated to Samanvai, an organization that was founded by MIT student Srikanth Bolla.  Srikanth Bolla was born visually challenged in a rural Indian community and had to overcome many challenges and much discrimination to attend his dream school, MIT. These challenges have given Srikanth a vision to improve Indian society for people with disabilities in India through Samanvai.

MIT Ohms, MIT’s only South Asian a Capella group featured several unique compositions that mixed Western Pop with Bollywood hits arranged in a very unique manner in its Spring concert. With a delightful romantic comic tale forming the backdrop for the presentation, the evening was extremely entertaining. The compositions, the beat boxing and singing talent was quite exceptional and  exposed of the creative juices and the musical talent of the participants.

MIT is a pretty busy place and it was nice to see the students pull off a nice show despite their busy schedules.
