05/07/2012 The W.K. Kellogg Foundation's Cultures of Giving challenge raised $2.2 million in 10 days of online giving. From April 16-April 27th, the American India Foundation raised a total of $325,752. The challenge was an effort to encourage online giving amongst non-profit organizations serving communities of color. Every organization had a different approach to attract donors including using social media and email campaigns to event fundraising days in their communities. By raising the most money during the campaign, AIF was awarded $100,000 plus a $20,000 match from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. The American India Foundation is thrilled to be able to direct these funds to their programs and capacity building to continue to provide education, livelihoods and healthcare for marginalized communities.
Founded in 2001, AIF is one of the leading United
States-based foundations focused on catalyzing social and economic change in
India, and is a trusted bridge for Americans to channel their philanthropy
there. Working with 150 Indian NGOs over the past 10 years, AIF has invested
over $70 million in education, livelihoods, and public health programs that
have reached over 1.5 million marginalized Indians. AIF has eight active
volunteer-led chapters in cities across the U.S. in addition to our main
offices in New York City, the Bay Area and New Delhi, India. President
William Clinton serves as Honorary Chair and Nobel Laureate Professor Dr.
Amartya Sen Chairs the Advisory Council. You may also access this article through our web-site http://www.lokvani.com/ |
