March 1 - April 30, 2012 Reception: Friday March 23, 2012 6-7 PM CGIS Knafel Concourse, 1737 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, MA
The South Asian Initiative at Harvard University is hosting a group exhibition of South Asian art. The exhibit brings together artists who are adept at expressing aspects of human life through the cultural lens of a region that we have just begun to understand, including India, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Nepal, and Bali. The artworks highlight some of the region’s deepest cultural traditions as well as the colorful expression of contemporary lives, and range from ancient Indian folk art to illustrations and photographs. The event also includes live demonstrations of folk art by visiting artists from the state of Odisha, India.
The exhibit runs from March 1 to April 30 with a reception on Friday March 23rd, 6pm - 7pm. The event also comprises two interesting panel discussions.
