East-West School Of Dance Celebrates 30 Years

On December 18 2011, The East- West school of Dance concluded its year long festivities by organizing an extravagant event at the at the Ganesh Temple Auditorium, The Hindu Temple Society of North America in Flushing . The event marked the school’s 30th anniversary.
Dressed in traditional Kathak Costumes, dazzling jewelry and clinkering ‘ghungroos’, over 70 students ethnically- diverse students of the school were part of the cultural program. It was a visually enticing treat for over 250 people who attended the program. It was a personal achievement for the school’s director Pandit Satya Narayan Charka who founded the school in 1981 at Anand Ashram in Monroe , NY
The Program show cased 30 years of his dedication to the art of Kathak, an ancient Indian dance form. All of his talented and dynamic dancing students at beginner, intermediate and senior level performed and portrayed PARAMPARA, the traditional values of this great art form inspired by Lucknow Gharana of Kathak Dance in India .
