Surya Bhupatiraju: Finalist In 2011 Siemens Competition

Surya Bhupatiraju, Lexington High School, Lexington, MA was the only Indian-American among the Semifinalists and Regional Finalists in the prestigious 2011-12 Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology, the nation’s premier science research competition for high school students, sponsored by The Siemens Foundation.

The nation’s leading original research competition in math, science and technology for high school students, the Siemens Competition is administered annually by the College Board, and awards college scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $100,000 in individual and team categories. An all-time record of 2,436 students registered to enter the 2011-12 Siemens Competition for an unprecedented 1,541 projects submitted.

Regional finalists will go head-to-head presenting their research with peers across the nation. Regional Finals begin on November 4, 2011. The events are hosted by six of America’s leading research universities: Georgia Institute of Technology (November 4-5); California Institute of Technology (November 4-5); Massachusetts Institute of Technology (November 11-12); The University of Texas at Austin (November 11-12); Carnegie Mellon University (November 18-19) and University of Notre Dame (November 18-19).

Winners of the regional events are invited to compete at the National Finals at The George Washington University in Washington, DC, December 3 – December 5, 2011.
