motivated high school students for this program. Click here to apply for this program. TyE is
TiE-Boston’s signature program for high school students with a mission to
excite young people to discover the rewards and challenges of becoming
entrepreneurs and business leaders. Established in
2005, TyE Boston is embarking on its seventh successful year of operation.
Over 200 students have participated in the program from over 25 local
schools. During
the program, students attend interactive discussions and workshops on Saturday
mornings which are led by industry experts and entrepreneurs. Last year several
business luminaries spoke to the TyE students which included Nitin Nohria, Dean
of HBS; Ashok Boghani, Monitor Group; Partho Ghosh, The Boston Pledge; and
Elizabeth Thornton, Professor Babson College. As part of
the TyE program, students participate in a 10K Business Plan competition where
they pitch their business plans to VCs and leading entrepreneurs at the Annual
TyE Gala. The winning team from Boston then participates in the TyE-Global 25K
Business Plan competition. The Annual
TyE Gala held in April is grand celebration of the winners of the TyE 10K
Business Plan competition. Each year, this event attracts over 150 attendees
which includes TyE students, Parents, Charter Members, Sponsors, Keynote
Speakers and Special guests. Past attendees at TyE Gala have heard
inspirational stories from eminent leaders and entrepreneurs like Sanjiv
Chopra, M.D., MACP, Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School; Eswar Priyadarshan, CTO &
Co-Founder, Quattro Wireless; Akhil Nigam, Founder &
President, Mass Challenge and many more. The
TyE program was adopted by TiE-Global in 2009 and is now offered to other TiE
chapters. This year, 19 TiE chapters are running a TyE Program, where each
chapter will hold its local TyE competition and the winner from all TyE chapters
will participate in the TyE-Global competition in April 2012. Two TyE Global
competitions have been conducted till date and TyE-Boston students have emerged
as first and second prize winners in the two years respectively. Since the inception of TyE, several
companies have been launched by TyE Alumni students. Two TyE alumni students
Mohini Srivastav and Kyle Kahveci started myskylark.com which integrates all
online teenagers' activities on to one platform. Another student Naman
Bharadwaj, launched a robotics company, Shaqbot. The
TyE experience is life changing for several students, some get direction on a
career path, others get help with fine tuning their college application, and
some others hone in their presentation skills. In all the transformation of
high school students into entrepreneurs is highly rewarding. TyE-Boston is now seeking high motivated high school
