Sprouted moong Dal

Ingredients:

1 cup sprouted moong

1 tsp oil

2 green chilies

Pinch of asafetida

1 tsp cumin seeds

½ tsp turmeric powder

A few curry leaves

Salt to taste

 

For ground masala

2 tbsp grated coconut

1 tsp coriander roasted

1 small piece cinnamon

2 dry chilies

2-3 tbsp tamarind pulp

 

Method

Steam sprouted moong in a pan till tender

Add the ground masala, turmeric, salt, mix well and simmer

Heat oil in a non stick pan, add cumin, and curry leaves and asafetida. When it splutters, pour over the dal and cover.

 

Drumstick Dal south Indian style

 

Ingredients

½ cup toor dal

½ tsp turmeric

1 tsp red chill powder

2 chopped tomatoes

2 green chillies

2 tbsp tamarind pulp

1 tsp jiggery

2 tbsp ghee

½ tsp cumin

½ tsp mustard seeds

A few curry leaves

4 cloves garlic crushed

Salt to taste

2 small onions

5-6 drumsticks (frozen or fresh)

Cilantro for garnishing

 

 

 

 

Method

Wash and boil dal . Add drumstick, cumin, turmeric, salt and cook till tender. Heat ghee in a pan add cumin and mustard. Add garlic, onion, curry leaves, chilli powder and tomatoes. Add tamarind pulp and jaggery. Stir fry for a while. Pour over the dal mixing thoroughly. Sprinkle cilantro and serve.
