Manju Sheth Is INEN Woman Of The Year

Dr. Manju Sheth, Co-chair of the Lokvani@10 gala was named the INDIA New England 2011 Woman of the Year during an award banquet held on June 1st at the Burlington Marriott in Burlington, MA. The award honors local South Asian women for their success and contributions to business, cultural, social and charitable endeavors. Twenty women were selected as finalists for the Woman of the Year Award and were honored at the awards banquet. Eshani Shah, another member of the Lokvani@10 gala committee was one of the twenty finalist. Mouli Pal, an Lokvani Spotlight Excellence Award winner in the "Dedicated Dancer" category was also a finalist. Sheth is a physician with Northeast Health Systems. She is also secretary of the Indian Medical Association of New England. She is involved with many other organizations including Saheli, the Asian Task Force for Domestic Violence, the Indian American Forum for Political Education, Akshaya Patra and The Boston Pledge. Sheth was thrilled to win this award. "I am nearly speechless," said Sheth as she received the award.
Other finalists were Sangeeta Ahuja, Hanishi Ali, Deepa Mangalat, Usha Vakil, Sahana Basu Kanodia, Vanita Shastri, Dr. Seema Arora, Dr. Neela Gandhi, Amulya Deepak, Gita Desai, Aditi Hazra, Falguni Patel, Mouli Pal, Kesha Ram, Kalpana Shetty and Mahima Subramaniam. Subu Kota of the Boston Group was the grand sponsor for the event. The judging team was led by Raj Sharma and included Jay Srinivasan, Indira Patel and Amita Sahni.
Other awards for the evening included an award for the best dressed man. Nabil Kapasi of Timeless Lens won that honor. Jharna Madan and her husband won the best dressed couple award.
DJ Yogz of Boston Light and Sound provided the music for the evening and Shobha Shastry of Alankar Decor provided the stage decorations.
