The time of the year is here again when the most vibrant Indian singing competition “New England Hindi Manch Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” will be held among singers, music professionals and enthusiasts. The event received grand applause last year from the community living in Greater Boston area. Music experts and critics who attended from India and USA compared it to Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in terms of program quality and singing performances.

'New England Hindi Manch' is a non profit organization whose aim is to bring people who know Hindi, or who want to know Hindi together by cultural, social and educational programs and activities. President Preetesh Shrivastava states that the group welcomes everyone who enjoys Hindi language irrespective of their belonging to any caste, creed or culture. Here Hindi/Urdu refers to all the dialects like Bhojpuri, Awadhi, Braj, Khariboli ...to name a few.

Music is an international force and has the power to bind people and as VP Chaitanya Godsay states “Hindi Manch is trying to bring all communities together through 'NEHM Sa Re Ga Ma Pa''. In the words of committee member Meena Sundaram “NEHM enjoyed success of the recent event on May 7^th 'Ek Haseen Shaam Hasne Hasane ke Naam' and 'Baal Manch. The program had 90 participants and over 350 audience members; Sa Re Ga Ma Pa expects twice the number of participants and audience on the July 9^th Finale”. The other founding members Mohan Dali, Shubha Chungi, Pradeep Shukla and Chaitanya Godsay would like to see more and more people joining Hindi Manch. One of the members Ruchika Arora says that everyone come from various backgrounds and together, here at Hindi Manch, are committed to make the upcoming Sa Re Ga Ma Pa event the best singing competition and entertainment of the year.

The organization presents a unique perspective with acting, music, Hindi literature, poetry oriented programs enhancing language and culture in New England also bringing out hidden talents of individuals including kids. “Poetry and singing can convey emotions simply in the best way with words and expressions”, local singer Shraddha Agrawal comments.

There are three rounds of this singing competition Auditions, Semifinals and Finale. Anish Khanzode and Saujanya Pangrekar explained about the auditions being held in four different cities this year trying to reach a larger population. Mansfield (June 18), Waltham (June 19), Chelmsford (June 25) and Framingham (June 26) have been chosen for this purpose. The Semifinals and Finals will be on July 9^th, 2011, do save the date! The venue will be announced soon! Preetesh Shrivastava promises the Finale event to be a mix of singing competition, celebration of music and Hindi language, local talented performers and a lot more.
