Shubrah.com and May Events-
May is the
month for Mothers, weddings, graduations and celebrations due to warm
weather in our cold, northern world! We celebrate our children- growing
older, graduating, getting married, finding a college or a job. Spring
is finally here, the flowers are blooming and things are green again. At
Shubrah.com, we are always trying to be "green" and responsible towards
our mission of sustainable fashions. Our Trunk show and sale in May is
going to be held from the 20th to the 23rd. We are planning to donate
10% of all our sales during this event to the Lexington Education
Foundation. LEF is a wonderful non-profit organization that gives grants
to the Lexington Public Schools for special projects that the teachers
dream up. It is a way for the community to foster technology and other
programs in the schools that the town does not have a budget for.
Shubrah.com is always looking for ways to engage with the local
community as well as international non-profits to create a connected
world that cares, albeit fashionably!
Our designs for Spring 2011 are for the modern woman and man, in
natural fabrics, recycled sari fabrics, hand dyed silks and organic
cottons. Our great collection of silk scarves are unique and fabulous
for gift-giving. The cotton recycled sari dresses and pajama pants are
perfect for your lazy summer days at the Cape or the back yard.
Our latest bridal custom project is for a bride of
Chinese American origin who wanted a lot of color in her July wedding.
Her groom is a blonde New Englander who seems very happy to don
non-traditional colors! The event will be taking place in a brilliant
sunlit garden (we hope it does not rain!). She picked sunny yellow,
turquoise, fuschia and eggplant as her colors for the wedding party. The
bride will wear a rich ensemble - a double layer of chiffon and hand
woven jacquard silk in a bright yellow tea length dress. The groom- in a
gorgeous turquoise jacquard silk vest, tie and silk shirt all custom
made by Shubhra Designs. The bridesmaids in rich silk jacquard dresses
of eggplant and ochre yellow, with touches of fuschia. Sashes, hand dyed
shoes and bunches of summer flowers complete the look. Look out for the
update on the blog once the wedding is over, no pictures before that,
of course!

Designing for weddings is such a wonderful way to make people happy!
We hope to see you at our May Trunk show and sale.
All for a good cause and what better way to update your wardrobes than
by giving back to the community?
