More than thousand devotees flock at New England Shirdi Sai Temple for Navratri and Vijaya Dasami Celebrations
The charm and splendor of Festivity and Spirituality came to life during the contiguous ten days of 2010 Navratri Celebrations held at New England Shirdi Sai Temple located in Chelmsford, MA. The temple was filled with a mood of either tranquility or pomp all the time depending on the kind of spiritual or cultural event being performed.
The temple organized both spiritual and cultural events back to back on all the ten days with Lalita Sahasranamam, Maa ki Arthi and Baba Ki Arthi every day. Each day had a combination of Spiritual and Cultural events, some of the noteworthy spiritual events being Kalash Sthapana, Saraswathi Pooja by kids, Mata Ka Jaagaran, Kanjak Pooja, Samuhik Khadgamala Pooja and Samuhik Lalitha Trishakti Pooja etc. Some of the noteworthy cultural and social programs included Music and Cultural programs by local kids, Garba and Dandia with Professional DJ etc. Navaratri Celebrations were concluded on the 10th day or the Dashami day that also happens to be Shri Shirdi Sai Baba’s Maha-Samadhi day with a splendid 3 hour Baba Abhishek and Palkhi procession that brought a feeling of being in Shirdi to all those present there. As a part of continued effort to serve the community, a Book Donation Drive was organized for “More Than Words†bookstore in Waltham. The bookstore help underprivileged youth in taking control of their life by completing education and getting themselves jobs. Devotees generously donated used books for this cause.
The temple is unique in a way that any Sai Devotee is able to perform Baba’s pooja and the related tasks themselves directly which gives them a great sense of contentment and peace. As the name suggests New England Shirdi Sai Parivaar (NESSP), considers itself a large Shirdi Sai Devotee family, and all devotees are encouraged to be part of this family. This warm, cordial and non-profit oriented atmosphere created by the NESSP organization gives a pleasant feeling to the devotees. Another uniqueness of this temple (unlike in other temples), all services offered by the temple to the devotees are for free – including but not limited to spiritual services, serving of food (Bhandara), distribution of religious/spiritual books etc.The temple runs on donations from within as well as from its wide volunteer and devotee base, however all donations are voluntary and are up to the discretion of the devotees. As always, NESSP invites one and all Devotees to come join us and be part of our large family, share and experience the spiritual wealth provided to all of us by Shri Shirdi Sai Baba.
