Sayjal Patidar and Amita Patel are the principal organizers of Shaadi Bazaar. Sayjal envisioned a one of a kind, comprehensive South Asian Bridal Show and brought Amita in to help execute that vision. The two of them have worked tirelessly over the last few months to make that vision a reality.
Why now and how did you arrive at this idea?
After years of attending wedding after wedding, and helping our friends with planning theirs, we noticed that there was an obvious difference between the Greater Boston and Rhode Island areas compared to New York & New Jersey areas. In the South Asian community, weddings are a huge celebration and some families spare no expense to have an unforgettable event. New York and New Jersey have a hugely successful South Asian wedding industry, but Boston/Rhode Island is not there yet, and they need to be- and that is where we come in. In our area, there are many local businesses that are able to provide services that are needed in the event planning process, but they need some help getting their name out there. Shaadi Bazaar is the perfect arena for a small business to debut their services to a mass audience. And of course it is all about the wedding! A wedding is a special day for the bride and groom, but also for their friends and family. We wanted to create a stress free wedding planning process for wedding couples and their families.
What can visitors expect from this showcase?
Shaadi Bazaar is an all-inclusive bridal show with every vendor a bride needs to plan their dream wedding. A wedding couple could essentially plan their wedding in one day by attending our show. Visitors will be able to get tips from beauty experts, sample food from local caterers, speak with talented photographers, see amazing floral and decor designs and much more. Of course a majority of our visitors will be engaged, thinking about getting married or counting the days until their big day, but even if a wedding isn't on your horizon, you can still come to the show. Some of our vendors will be selling jewelry and clothing at the show and it's always fun to taste food from local restaurants and get tips on makeup and hair styles.
We will also be holding a raffle and silent auction to benefit the Greater Boston Food Bank. People can bring cans in exchange for raffle tickets. The more cans you bring, the more raffle tickets you get -which equals more chances to win great prizes! It's a win win for everyone!
Give us a sample of vendors of this event?
Binita Patel Photography, Golden Gate Studios (Florist), DJ Deewane, Elegant Affairs, Marriott Hotels of Boston, Zeenie Fashion, and Taste of India Restaurant are a few of the vendors that are coming to Shaadi Bazaar. If some of them are new names to you, then try to come out to the show and meet them to see what they are all about
What is most unique about this event? Has something like this ever been done in Boston?
We are hoping that Shaadi Bazaar will become an annual event and as we grow, so will the number of participating vendors at our show. We want to offer brides a show that has a wide variety of experienced and professional vendors that meet their needs. We also want to help vendors get their names out there so they can expand their business as well.
What do you hope to achieve as organizers?
We have 3 goals that we want to accomplish with Shaadi Bazaar. One goal for brides, one for vendors and one for the community. We want to take the stress out of wedding planning for brides in the area. We are working on creating a database on our website where brides can go to look up vendors and get tips for their planning process. We also want to help vendors that provide these services. Many vendors are in this industry as a part time job, but when their business gets more exposure from Shaadi Bazaar, it could turn into a full time opportunity. We also aim to create an open communication between vendors so they can learn from each other and help each other out. As our show grows, so does our mission to give back to the community, and this year we have chosen the Greater Boston Food Bank.
Can people walk in to the Bazaar or do you need to preregister?

Finally is it open to all couples, South Asian or mainstream?
