The Annual Independence Celebration by Indian Association of Greater Boston held at the Hatch Shell in Boston was a delightful potpourri of dance and music numbers. Over 20,000 people attended the event. The event was held on Sunday, August 15th, 2010, marking the 63rd anniversary of India’s independence.
Representative Barney Frank, Chairman of the Congressional Financial Services Committee, was the chief guest and keynote speaker. He emphasized the contributions of immigrants and specifically the Indian Americans . Timothy Cahill, Treasurer and Receiver General, Commonwealth of Massachusetts was the guest of honor.
Ms. Zehra Khan, Director of IAGB, gave the welcome address. The US National Anthem was sung by Noura Khan, and the Indian National Anthem by Shraddha Agarwal. Mr. Mohan Dali, President, IAGB gave the Independence day address and Raj Mundhe, Director, IAGB delivered the vote of thanks.
